The Japanese staple of sushi has been popular in the United States for many years.
Restaurants have adapted many recipes to appeal to American taste buds while producing traditional varieties as well.
Typically, sushi includes boiled rice served cold and seasoned with rice vinegar, raw fish and/or vegetables. It frequently is wrapped in seaweed, called nori. There are vegetarian versions as well as ones featuring cooked or smoked fish and seafood, too.
Sushi’s popularity has grown so much it is offered in many grocery stores and even convenience stores.
