Some municipalities in Berks County are moving up their trick-or-treat nights out of fear of rain, and they have a right to be concerned.

Exeter and Spring townships moved from Thursday night to Wednesday night but it’s unclear how many others will follow suit.

Thursday looks to be a wet exclamation point on a month with a handful of rainy days scattered across numerous days of sparkling weather.

Overcast and mild conditions from an onshore flow are expected through Thursday morning, then heavy rain is likely ahead of a vigorous cold front that will eventually bring the chilliest temperatures this season.

The high temperature Thursday is expected to be in the low 70s with AccuWeather forecasting about an inch of rain. The rain continues into the early hours of Friday before a strong northwest wind takes over, pushing away the clouds.

Berks County residents are urged to call their municipalities, or check the municipality’s Facebook page on website for the latest information.

Reading Eagle will run updated information as it becomes available. Municipalities email news@readingeagle.com or call 610-371-5012 to update the schedule running at readingeagle.com and in print.

Meanwhile, Reading Regional Airport, the official National Weather Service site in Berks County, has recorded 5.09 inches of rain this month, about double of normal.

The month has a shot at the 10-wettest list on Thursday. No. 10 is 6.32 inches.
